System Check FAQ — Is My Café Station Running Normally?

10 questions covering daily checks, light states, modes, tank behaviour, flow, TDS, post-install verification, and when to call support.

1. How do I quickly check if the Café Station is running normally?

Perform a straightforward visual inspection.

Look at the lights

  • Bluewater Spirit (RO purifier): solid green.
  • Café Station control box: green + blue.
  • Dosing pump: blue.

Open the Bluewater faucet and verify water flows steadily without pulsing or weakness.

Start the espresso machine or brewer — flow should be normal with standard filling speed.

Listen — the tank pump may start and stop, but avoid constant struggling or rattling sounds.

If these elements appear normal, the system is typically functioning properly.

2. What should the lights look like in normal operation?

  • Bluewater Spirit purifier: green light indicates proper operation and purified water production.
  • Control box (Café Station): green + blue lights show power and correct communication.
  • Top button: light purple when dosing minerals into the pressureless tank, confirming mineralized water delivery.
  • Dosing pump: blue light indicates pairing and readiness.
Warning signs: any unit being off, blinking irregularly, or the control box failing to show purple on the top button during tank filling.

3. How do I know the system is in the right mode?

The Café Station should operate in Mode 1 (Café Station mode).

Verification steps

  • Unplug the control box.
  • Hold the top button and plug back in.
  • Count the blue light blinks between pauses.
  • One blink indicates Mode 1 (Café Station mode).
  • Press the bottom button to confirm; the top light turns purple.

Perform this check after installation, relocation, or factory reset.

4. How can I tell if the pressureless tank and float switch are working?

Normal behaviour

  • Tank fills and stops before reaching full capacity (approximately 90%).
  • System does not continuously overflow or leak.

Simple check

  • Observe the tank during extended operation.
  • Confirm a stable water level without rising or overflow.
  • Continuous overfilling indicates a float-switch or valve issue requiring support.

5. What should the water flow feel like at the faucet and the coffee machines?

  • From the Bluewater faucet: steady, consistent flow — not dripping or pulsing strongly.
  • At espresso machine / brewer: reasonably quick and consistent filling.

When the faucet and espresso machine operate simultaneously, flow may temporarily decrease but should normalise after the machine finishes.

Persistently weak flow suggests the purifier is off or valves are closed — contact support if issues continue.

6. Do I need to check TDS every day to be sure it's OK?

No. The Café Station is designed to give stable mineralised water without daily testing requirements. TDS measurements are primarily for troubleshooting, not routine operation.

7. Is there a simple daily check baristas can do?

Morning routine

  • Check lights once daily: purifier green, control box green/blue, dosing pump blue.
  • When filling the pressureless tank, the top button should display purple, confirming mineral dosing.
  • Run the faucet briefly to verify steady flow and normal taste.
  • Pull a test espresso or small brew to check filling and flavour.

8. What should I check after a new installation or service visit?

  • Tank behaviour — verify the float switch stops water at approximately 90% with no overflow.
  • Correct mode — confirm the control box is set to Mode 1 (Café Station mode).
  • Connections — check tubing and valves are secure with no leaks or loose connections.
  • Lights — purifier green, control box green + blue, dosing pump blue.
  • Taste & flow — test faucet water and brew test coffee to verify normal taste and flow.

9. When should I suspect something is wrong and call support?

  • No lights on purifier / control box / dosing pump when powered.
  • Continuous overfilling or leaking from the pressureless tank.
  • Very weak or absent water flow from the faucet and machine, even with single use.
  • Unusual taste that doesn't improve after flushing.
  • Dosing pump showing no blue light or failure to dose minerals despite system operation.

10. Do we need to do anything with minerals day-to-day?

No daily actions required if adequate mineral liquid remains in the container and the dosing pump displays a blue light (paired and ready).

When changing a mineral container, trained staff should prime the pump by holding the light button until it turns green and the tube fills with minerals, then release it to return to blue.
